Cationic or non-ionic water-soluble groups are used to eliminate static electricity generated by the large number of anions attached to the clothing.
Typical cationic softeners are tallow-based dimethyl ammonium chloride, etc., while typical nonionic softeners are polyethylene glycol stearate, etc.
